Coming out of darkness and into the light, is meant to be a metaphor for coming out of sin. The question on most people’s minds is, “Is it possible for me to be saved?” The answer is yes. But first, you must come to the realization that you are a sinner! We all are sinners! No one is perfect! If you truly want to be forgiven, then you must be honest with yourself, and admit your mistakes, and ask for forgiveness. Today we will talk about how to do just that! Let’s get saved!
(Rev.12:11)~ “I overcome the devil through the blood of Jesus.”
It is possible for everyone to be forgiven. Please understand that your sins DO have consequences, and they need to be paid for! Fortunately Jesus has already paid for your past, present, and future sins.
(1 Peter 1:2)~ “I sprinkle the blood of Jesus and receive multiplied grace and peace.”
This is wonderful! However, it is not a free ticket to commit more sins!! For example; If you go out one night and unintentionally cheat on your spouse because you are utterly intoxicated, and then you wake up the next morning full of regret. You then beg God to forgive you, and vow to never commit adultery again, and then a month or two down the road, you go out and find yourself in the same situation! If you make the same choices as you did the first time, then obviously you aren’t learning from your mistakes, and you are taking The Lords forgiveness for granted!!! This is not good! It puts your soul in danger of damnation! I don’t wish this for any of you! In fact, I’m going to tell you a little story about myself. This is a story of my own transformation from a once lost soul, into a ordained minister. There are 7 deadly sins: Pride, Envy, Lust, Greed, Sloth, Gluttony, and Anger. I committed them all folks! It started because I was a lazy, spoiled rotten kid, and I got fat. I became greedy with my possessions, and locked myself away in my room to play alone since the other kids hated me. I was very talented in the fields of music and art. I then became boastful. All the compliments from parents and teachers only fed my pride even more. My peers were mean to me because I was so rotten, and then I became sad and angry. This led me to a life of drugs, alcohol, promiscuous sex, and fighting. Eventually I found myself alone, addicted, and homeless. I was getting farther and farther away from Gods wonderful light, and I had hit rock bottom. It was then that I asked God to help me! As soon as I began praying, God began to put the right people in my life, and doors began to open for me. I listened to the advice of the people that were trying to help me. I now wanted to change! I didn’t want to be found dead in a dumpster before the age of 30! I was humbled. For any of you who have ever hit rock bottom, I know you can probably relate. For those of you who can’t relate, the best way I know how to describe it is being in complete absence of light; living in darkness, far away from God. So you see it IS possible to come out of sin! Even for a wretch like me! I’d like to share with you all, now, how I finally came out of the darkness and into the light. How I found peace with God and began a new life with Christ!
(John3:16)~ “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son [Jesus Christ], that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
The first step is, knowing God loves you and has a plan for you! However, as we discussed earlier that man is sinful and separated from God.
(Romans3:23)~ “All have sinned and fall short if the glory of God.”
We were all born into original sin because of Adam and Eve’s decision to disobey God in the Garden of Eden. From the day we were born we have been trying to find our way back to God! The good news is that God DOES love us! He wants us to come to Him! That us why he sent his only son to die for our sins! Jesus died in our place so we could have a relationship with God, and be with him eternally.
(Romans5:8)~ “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”.
Jesus did die on the cross for our sins, but he rose again and lives eternally in his place at the right hand if God. Jesus is the ONLY way to a connection with God. Jesus said it himself,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the father, but through me.”~(John 14:6)
So what are you waiting for? It’s never too late to ask for, and receive God’s forgiveness. I want to help save as many souls as I can! Someone took the time to help me get saved, and now I want to spend the rest of my life helping others get saved as well. Eventually we all get tired of living a life of sin.
In conclusion, we can’t earn salvation by committing random good deeds. We become saved by God’s grace when we have faith in his son, Jesus Christ. All you have to do is believe that you are a sinner, and that Christ died for your sins, and ask to be forgiven. Then, turn away from your sins! This is called, “repentance.” Stop committing the same sins repeatedly!!!!! I’d now like to end in a prayer that will help you find repentance.
Dear Lord Jesus,
I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust and follow you as my Lord and savior. Please guide my life and help me to do your will!
In your name Jesus we pray!
Amen
